A southbound lane on the Wilson Pigott Bridge is scheduled to close Monday night as crews make emergency repairs to the drawbridge's steel grid deck.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, several welds in the southbound lane have broken and must be rewelded to keep the bridge operating safely.
FDOT said maintenance crews will lower the drawbridge traffic gates for up to 15 minutes prior to 4 p.m. to complete interim repairs.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, the southbound lane will be closed while crews complete permanent repairs.
Traffic will be maintained in both directions through a flagging operation, with work expected to finish by 4 a.m. and all southbound lanes reopened before dawn.
FDOT urged drivers to expect brief delays and use caution in the area.
