Gov. DeSantis signs death warrant for convicted murderer of North Port mother

After 18 years of heartache and legal battles, a North Port family is closer to finding closure.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the death warrant for convicted murderer Michael King over the weekend. In 2008, King abducted, raped, and murdered North Port mother Denise Lee.

The crime deeply affected Southwest Florida.

WINK News was present in the courtroom the day King was sentenced to death.

King's execution is set for March 17.
