I-75 crash kills 1 woman, seriously injures 2 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.—The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles that occurred on Interstate 75, near mile marker 70, in Collier County.

The crash was reported to troopers at around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

According to law enforcement, a 66-year-old woman from Naples was driving her 2018 Buck Sedan west on the outside lane of I-75.

A 2020 Kia driven by a 60-year-old male from Lehigh Acres, along with his passenger, a 60-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres, was traveling west on I-75, on the outside lane, ahead of the Naples woman. 

A third vehicle, a 2021 Toyota SUV driven by a 52-year-old man from Miami, along with his passenger, a 14-year-old from Miami, was driving east on I-75, in the inside lane.

The Naples woman crashed her vehicle into the rear of the Lehigh Acres vehicle and the guardrail, causing her to lose control of her car, cross to the median, enter the eastbound lane, and collide with the Toyota SUV.

Post collision, the SUV overturned, causing serious injuries to both the 52-year-old man driver and the 14-year-old passenger. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The Lehigh Acres vehicle sustained no injuries from the crash.

The 66-year-old Naples woman was killed in the crash.
