Fight outside Port Charlotte bar leads to early-morning shooting, no suspects in custody

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. —

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that followed a fight early Sunday outside a bar along U.S. 41 in Port Charlotte.

Deputies responded just after 2 a.m. on Sunday to the 2600–2700 block of Tamiami Trail after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, authorities found witnesses, victims and video evidence of a physical disturbance.

Investigators determined the altercation began shortly after the Paddy Wagon Irish Pub closed for the night. The fight occurred near a food truck vendor, and several shots were fired during the incident.

No injuries were reported from the gunfire. However, authorities said multiple people involved in the fight sustained minor injuries. One person was taken to a nearby hospital, treated and released. Deputies reported no structural damage to surrounding businesses.

Witness video provided by a Port Charlotte business owner captured the sound of gunshots and people screaming, with a bystander heard warning others to leave the area.

No suspects have been identified. The sheriff’s office said its Forensic and Major Crimes units are processing the scene and collecting evidence.

Authorities described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 941-639-2101.
