Cape Coral to advance plan for new traffic signal at busy North Cape intersection

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

City leaders are expected to move forward Wednesday with plans to begin the installation process for a traffic signal at Tropicana Parkway and Chiquita Boulevard.

The Cape Coral City Council will consider approving a contract with an engineering firm to provide professional services for the project at a cost of $198,273.64.

If approved, the funding would come from the city’s Capital Project Fund.

City officials say the signal installation is part of a broader effort to improve roadway safety, enhance traffic flow, and strengthen connectivity throughout Cape Coral as the area continues to grow.

If the measure receives the green light, construction on the new traffic signal is expected to begin in 2027.

The Cape Coral City Council meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m.
