An Immokalee man was sentenced to over 3o years after submitting a no-contest plea for his role in a 2019 drive-by shooting that killed a mother of six.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Malachi Montelongo, 23, entered the plea on the fourth day of his trial. His sentencing includes 30 years of state prison for second-degree murder and an additional 273 months in prison for two counts of aggravated assault.
Malachi's brother Jesus Montelongo III, 25, is still awaiting sentencing for his role in the shooting following a plea agreement that calls for a 15-year prison sentence. He was found guilty in 2022.
In 2019 deputies say that Malachi and Jesus drove to Amos Court in Immokalee, looking for two women who had not paid for marijuana. They reportedly got our of their vehicles and opened fire on another car carrying three people.
Among the people in the car was Adriana Arredondo, a 33-year-old mother of six. Malachi, who was 17 at the time, was arrested.
