A man was arrested in Houston, Texas, after being accused of sexual assault of a child in Fort Myers.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, on Feb. 12, officers initiated an investigation into the sexual assault of a child that occurred within the city of Fort Myers.
The suspect in the case, Hector Ramon Villalta Ortiz, fled the area after learning that officers were actively pursuing the case, FMPD said.
FMPD coordinated with the United States Marshals Service for about a week to locate Villalta Ortiz. On Feb. 18, members of the United States Marshals Service caught Villalta Ortiz in Houston.
"This investigation and subsequent arrest underscore the critical importance of strong interagency collaboration and the effectiveness of coordinated efforts with federal partners in apprehending dangerous individuals," FMPD said.
