Road closures announced for Swamp Cabbage Festival

LABELLE, Fla. —

The Hendry County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents of multiple road closures that will take place for the Swamp Cabbage Festival.

According to HCSO, Barron Park, DeSoto Avenue, Lee Street and Park Avenue will close on Friday starting at 2 p.m. until vendor setup is completed.

On Saturday at 9:45 a.m., the LaBelle drawbridge will be closed to all traffic, and SR-80 will be shut down between Main Street and Lee Street. All side roads on Bridge Street from Park Avenue to the four-way intersection will also be closed, HCSO said.

HCSO also said to expect heavy congestion if traveling near the parade line-up area of North Main Street.

Detours will be in place to keep traffic moving.

All eastbound and westbound traffic should use Cowboy Way as the primary detour route. Deputies will be stationed at both the east and west intersections of SR-80 to assist drivers, HCSO said.

Southbound traffic on the north side of the bridge will be routed down CR-78 to the Fort Denaud Bridge, but overweight trucks must continue into Lee County, HCSO said. Northbound traffic coming from SR-29 will be detoured onto Cowboy Way.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. HCSO said to plan travel ahead of time, drive safely and enjoy the festivities.
