Video captures the moment a sports car crashes into Florida school bus, driver walks away uninjured

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A video captured the jaw-dropping moment a sports car crashed into the back of a school bus on US-41 in Lee County, Florida on Wednesday.

Crews responded to the scene at around 8:52 a.m. Wednesday.

The video shows a Lee County school bus coming to a stop along US-41 and Jack Rabbit Run, which is near San Carlos Park. A sports car is then seen approaching the school bus at high speed, not braking in time, and slamming into the back of the school bus, becoming lodged underneath it.

No children were on the school bus at the time of the crash, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said.

"Just drinking my coffee and I heard a loud boom," Dave Johns said. "We saw children walking to the bus stop 15 minutes prior to this happening."

The driver of the sports car, Jacob Novak, 31, was able to walk home from the scene unharmed after being medically cleared by EMS. The bus driver was transported to the hospital as a precaution after reportedly feeling dizzy.

Hours later, Lee County deputies were called to Novak's home in response to a domestic disturbance. LCSO said Novak pushed a woman and was arrested.

Novak was cited for following too close to the bus and picked up a battery charge for the domestic incident at his home.
