A Port Charlotte woman is accused of selling stolen jewelry on an online auction site.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025, a string of residential burglaries took place in the Englewood area, where unoccupied homes were found broken into.
One such break-in was reported on Oct. 18, where deputies responded to a home on Oceanspray Boulevard.
The victim's sister called deputies to the home after she came by to check on the home and found the back door leading into the garage pried open, CCSO said.
Inside the home, numerous drawers were open, and items were scattered around the residence, CCSO said.
Deputies made contact with the victim, who was out of town at the time of the burglary. The victim identified several missing items, including numerous glass decorative fish, one gold and one silver Whiting & Davis bangle with a clear cameo, and many other pieces of jewelry.
Deputies say that a confidential informant told them that a suspect, Shyla Robinett, 44, was involved in numerous residential robberies in the Englewood area. Robinett was detained during a traffic stop, and her cellphones were collected as evidence, an arrest report says.
A search warrant was executed on her phones and found numerous pictures relating to jewelry and coins. One of the photos, deputies said, contained a gold and silver-colored bangle and a necklace with the victim's first name engraved on it. Another photo, they said, showed several decorative glass fish.
All of the pieces of jewelry also showed up on an online auction site, CCSO said. They added that several text conversations on Robinett's phone allude to selling the jewelry to other parties.
Robinett was charged with dealing in stolen property.
