Warm today, rain moves in tomorrow, and cooler temps ahead

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, (WINK) — We are kicking off the weekend with warmer-than-normal temperatures, topping out in the mid 80s Saturday afternoon.

Inland communities can even expect highs in the upper 80s later today.

With high pressure in control, rain chances stay at bay today. Southerly winds will be light throughout the day.

Sunday

Our next cold front approaches Southwest Florida come Sunday afternoon. This will bring us scattered showers ahead of the front.

Expect cloudier conditions before the rain comes, with temperatures only warming up to near-average highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Winds will be breezy, particularly in the afternoon hours.

This week

Monday kicks off cold with overnight lows in the 30s and 40s.

Highs struggle to warm up, only reaching the mid 60s.

Mostly sunny skies stay put for the start of the week. Then by the end of the week, more moisture comes back into play with highs much warmer, back into the low 80s.

Beach and boating

Today will be a nice, warm day out on the water. Tomorrow will be choppy in the afternoon with our next cold front coming in.

Winds today are out of the southeast, shifting southwest late around 5 to 10 knots with Gulf wave heights at 1 to 2 feet. There's a light chop in our bays and inland waters. Gulf water temperatures are at 73 degrees.
