A 12 and 25-year-old have died after a double-vehicle crash in Charlotte County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old fled the scene of a prior crash on Kings Highway and Veterans Boulevard Saturday night.
During this initial crash, there were no reported injuries.
The truck fled on southbound Interstate 75 and exited onto Harborview Road. It began traveling west at a high rate of speed on Harborview Road.
The other vehicle, a sedan, was traveling east on Harborview Road. This vehicle was being driven by a 44-year-old man with a 12-year-old passenger.
The truck crossed the centerline while making a right curve on the roadway. The front left of the truck collided with the front left of the sedan.
The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the sedan sustained critical injuries, and the 12-year-old passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
