Authorities on scene of multi-acre fire in Collier County

A fire is currently burning in a remote area of the Big Cypress National Preserve near Mile Marker 89.

The Florida Forestry Service reported that Big Cypress staff are actively working on the fire, which was reported Monday morning.

They currently don't have an estimated acreage but will provide updates once Big Cypress helicopters fly it.

The situation is being closely monitored, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
