Braves fans defy rain for home opener at CoolToday Park in North Port

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Braves' home opener at CoolToday Park was an event to remember, with fans eagerly anticipating the baseball action despite rain in the forecast for Sunday.

The game against the Twins drew a crowd of Braves supporters who were undeterred by the weather, showcasing their unwavering loyalty.

WINK News was at the scene, capturing the excitement as Braves fans filled the park from the moment the gates opened.

"I definitely think we're probably the most loyal one, definitely probably the most devout fans as well," said Kaden Honeycutt, a Braves fan.

For many, spring training offers a unique experience that the regular season cannot.

"You get to meet players on a more kind of relaxed level. They're having more fun. And it's, you know, you get a bunch of guys from, like, triple A and stuff like that, who get shots," said Honeycutt.

Autographs were a highlight for fans, with some already in possession of signatures from baseball legends.

"We just got Andrew Jones. So that was really, really cool. Of course, just got in the Hall of Fame. So that was, that was really awesome to see," said Honeycutt.

Landon Miller, a fan from Georgia, made the trip to show support for his home team.

"I'm from Georgia, and the Braves are basically the Georgia team of a Georgia team of baseball," said Miller.

Some fans traveled even further to be part of the opening day excitement.

"It is zero degrees where we're from, and we wanted a little warm weather. And we are diehard Braves fans, and we go everywhere to watch them. LA, we go to Colorado, Seattle. So this is the farthest we've been actually to watch the Braves, but we're excited," said Reed MeschKe.

Despite the looming clouds, fans were optimistic about the game proceeding as planned.

"I'm doing my rain dance!" said Evan Caissee.

Rain or shine, the Braves faithful are ready for the return of baseball, united in their passion for the game.
