A meeting of two tabbies at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

At the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, actors take the stage to perform a tale of talented tabbies.

"I think it's going to be very spirited, yes!" said Amy McCleary, "CATS" director and choreographer.

The actors grow with each rehearsal and performance, but last week, her cast pursued a unique character study that was quite the treat.

Felines from the Cape Coral Animal Shelter took to the theater for a field trip.

It's no wonder they gravitated towards certain characters, considering they're named after those characters in the show.

"She fits Sillabub as a character. She's kind of shy. She's an old soul at heart," said Quinlyn Kessler, who plays Sillabub.

"She's pretty vocal, which is kind of funny because Grizabella sings a lot of songs in the show," said Ava Arkin, who plays Grizabella.

"We care for about 100 animals every month, and about 50-60 of those are cats," said Liz McCauley, executive director of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter.

As these actors continue to hone their craft, and these kittens hope to find a home, their brief meeting was a scene all on its own.
