Dashcam video shows wrong-way driver at Fort Myers intersection,

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

What appeared to be a routine drive down Fowler Street quickly turned into a startling moment for one Fort Myers resident when a driver traveled the wrong way through a busy intersection, an incident captured on dashcam video.

Kevin Holt said he was driving Sunday morning near the intersection of Fowler St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when he saw a vehicle heading toward him in the wrong direction.

“I don't know if they were confused. I don't know what happened, but we were all shocked at first,” Holt said. “It didn't hit us until they passed us. And we're like, what just happened?”

The intersection, marked by multiple traffic control signs — including left-turn-only, right-turn-only and one-way signs — clearly directs drivers on where they can and cannot travel. Despite the signage, the driver continued against traffic without appearing to realize the mistake.

Rearview footage shows the vehicle proceeding down the roadway as other drivers reacted in disbelief.

“I watched it about 10 times just to see what was going on,” Holt said of the video afterward.

No crashes or injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and it was not immediately clear where the driver exited the roadway.

Fort Myers police said that when motorists encounter a wrong-way driver, they should safely move out of the vehicle’s path and call 911 immediately.

Holt said the incident left him shaken and concerned about road safety.

“Everything’s different, especially the traffic and the drivers,” he said. “I would say it’s definitely a Florida man moment.”
