Deputies conduct infant death investigation at day care center in North Fort Myers

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.—The Lee County Sheriff’s Office provided an update regarding an investigation conducted at Deana’s Country Kids day care.

Deputies report that a death investigation of an infant is underway after responding to reports of an unresponsive infant on Monday.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement provided life-saving measures on the unresponsive infant; however, the child could not be revived.

The child's exact age has not yet been confirmed. 

Investigators of the scene found no signs of foul play or wrongdoing so far, believing this to be an isolated incident, possibly a medical event.

A medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death and will provide that information when it becomes available.
