Naples family seeks justice year after Kade Schembri hit-and-run tragedy

NAPLES, Fla.—A year has passed since the tragic hit-and-run that claimed the life of 18-year-old Kade Schembri in Naples, and his family continues to seek justice. The driver responsible for the incident remains unidentified.

Kade was crossing Radio Road near San Marcos Boulevard when he was struck and killed. His memorial at the site has grown, filled with flowers, stuffed animals, and notes from those who miss him.

"It's just a very sad and tremendous loss," said Julian Schembri, Kade's father.

Schembri was a senior at Naples High School, remembered for his energy, kindness, and ability to connect with others.

"No parent should lose a child. You know, to know that no one has been held responsible. It's, it's tragically sad," said Julian Schembri.

Julian Schembri described his son as a "very likable, jovial child who was just starting life" and reminded him of himself at that age.

The past year has been difficult for the Schembri family, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.

"So far, we do not have any leads to make an arrest, and I'm here to ask and plead for witnesses, as a father, as a parent, on behalf of his friends and family, anything, no matter how small you may feel it is, please come forward to Collier County Sheriff's Department or call Crime Stoppers," said Julian Schembri.
