Charlotte County school zone speed cameras active now

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.—Charlotte County Public Schools principals have a message for drivers: follow the speed limit. 

Starting April 1, 2026, drivers caught traveling more than 10 mph over the posted school zone speed limit will face a $100 citation.

The initiative aims to keep roadways safe for children and the entire community. During the first 30 days, drivers caught speeding will receive a warning notice by mail.

School zone speed cameras are currently active at the following nine schools in Charlotte County:

• Lemon Bay High School

• Port Charlotte High School

• Port Charlotte Middle School

• L.A. Ainger Middle School

• Murdock Middle School

• Peace River Elementary

• Neil Armstrong Elementary

• Liberty Elementary

• Deep Creek Elementary
