Lehigh Acres man gets 30 years in prison for murder plot targeting detective and informant

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Lee County man was sentenced to spend the next three decades behind bars in connection with a murder plot that targeted a confidential informant and a detective.

Zachary Clayton Human, 28, who was arrested in 2024 for selling drugs in Lee County, solicited a witness to kill two people involved with his case, according to a State Attorney's Office news release.

Human wanted a detective shot and killed, and the confidential informant to be given an overdose of drugs. According to officials, the witness contacted the Lee County Sheriff's Office about the plot, and Human was found in Cape Coral driving with a suspended license.

Human was taken into custody after a traffic stop. He was convicted in January after a jury trial in Lee County.

According to the State Attorney's Office, Human was sentenced to 30 years in prison followed by 30 years of probation for charges of criminal solicitation and two counts of tampering with a witness, victim or informant.
