Local plastic surgeon details how GLP-1 drugs can lead to surgery complications

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Going under the knife can make anybody nervous. Before you go in and the doctors get started, there are a couple of things you can do to help get ready.

Dr. Michael Kim, a board-certified plastic surgeon, joined Gulf Coast News to explain how GLP-1 drugs can affect surgery and how to avoid complications.

Kim said 1 in 8 people in the United States currently takes GLP-1 drugs for either weight loss or diabetes. He said not being forthcoming with that information can lead to problems.
