Police investigate Fort Myers woman's death as homicide

FORT MYERS, Fla.—A family in Fort Myers is grappling with the loss of their daughter, Julia Curvo, whose death is now being investigated as a homicide by the Fort Myers Police Department.

Julia Curvo, 28, was discovered dead last month near downtown Fort Myers after having been missing for over a week.

Her body was found on Hough Street and Third Street, close to where she was last seen off Fowler Street.

Julia's family shared that she often spent time around downtown Fort Myers. She was last seen on Fowler Street on January 21.

Her father, Mark Curvo, recounted the difficult days following her disappearance.

He said Julia's grandmother had tried contacting her repeatedly for 24 hours before reporting her missing, but her calls went straight to voicemail, and text messages were not delivered.

"We were told that someone had been found," said Mark Curvo. "We did not know that it was her, but we knew in our hearts that it was her, and it was immediately devastating, and my worst fears, I had been fearing that something like this could happen for years."

Curvo expressed the difficulty of processing the news that his daughter's death was ruled a homicide, choosing not to speak on camera about the investigation.
