Beach access at San Carlos Bay-Bunche Beach Preserve in Fort Myers set to temporarily close

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Lee County announced Wednesday that beach access at San Carlos Bay-Bunche Beach Preserve in Fort Myers will be temporarily closed starting March 9.

The closure, running through March 13, is due to drainage repairs related to impacts from Hurricane Ian. The Lee County Department of Transportation is leading the work.

During this project, the county says, the roadway south of the parking lot and beach access will be closed. Barriers will be put in place to prevent vehicle and pedestrian access to that portion of the road.

The county says that the parking lot, restrooms and kayak launches will remain open and accessible. Visitors are encouraged to use caution in the area and follow posted signage.
