Cape Coral becomes unexpected adventure in children's book by Lauren Sánchez Bezos

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A children's book by Lauren Sánchez Bezos, Jeff Bezos' wife, highlights Cape Coral as an unexpected adventure, teaching kids about self-acceptance and the environment.

Flynn the fly, a character with ADHD and dyslexia, embarks on a journey to see a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral but ends up in Cape Coral instead, leading to her best adventure.

"She ends up in Cape Coral, she's so frustrated, she is so upset, but that mistake leads her to her best adventure," Sánchez Bezos said.

Jason Blackwell from Cape Coral shared his personal connection to the story, saying, "I have a niece that is dyslexic, so I can see the mix-up — Cape Coral, Cape Canaveral."

The book, "The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea," written by Sánchez Bezos and illustrated by Raleigh Stewart, not only mentions Cape Coral but also teaches children about the environment and promotes self-acceptance.

Mac Rietz from Cape Coral expressed his excitement, saying, "My granddaughter will be first amazed that Cape Coral gets mentioned, and then she will be excited about it."

Madeleine Farhat, also from Cape Coral, added, "I think it’s really cool to see, for her to see a book about where she lives and where she’s from."

The back of the book features STEM fun, including an undersea glossary to keep learning going beyond the end of the story.
