A Cape Coral woman was arrested on Tuesday after being accused of stealing a business's card and using it for personal transactions.
According to a news release from the Cape Coral Police Department, officers were contacted on Dec. 7, 2025, by a local air conditioning company regarding a fraud complaint involving a business credit card belonging to the business.
The victim reported receiving alerts from their bank and identified a Cape Coral smoke shop as one of several locations where their business credit card had been used without permission.
Detectives with the Economic Crimes Unit learned that the card had been stolen from the business, used repeatedly, and then later returned to the office.
Approximately 14 unauthorized transactions were reported by the victim at locations such as a smoke shop, nail salon, grocery store, restaurant, and other locations in Cape Coral.
Detectives reviewed receipts, video surveillance and written statements from multiple businesses, which all tied the use of the victim's card to Renee Lynn Companioni, 48, the release said.
An employee at the victim's business said they saw Companioni return the card to a company desk drawer, where it was later found.
The release stated that the amount of transactions on the victim's card totaled $1,951.79.
Companioni was arrested after detectives located her in the area of 2400 Del Prado Blvd. North, according to the release. She faces charges of criminal use of personal identification information and grand theft.
