Crews battle brush fire on Wildwood Court in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

Crews are at the scene of a brush fire on Wildwood Court in Charlotte County Tuesday.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, fire and emergency medical services responded to the fire at 5:04 p.m.

The fire was initially two to three acres and was moving slowly before it grew to about five acres, CCPS said. It was burning between properties and got close to a barn nearby, but crews stopped it before any structures were damaged.

There are no reported injuries at this time and the fire is about 75% contained as of 7:10 p.m., according to CCPS. Crews are mopping up, and the Florida Forest Service is also helping with suppression efforts.
