Port Charlotte man arrested after bomb threat investigation at UPS store in Venice

VENICE, Fla. —

A Port Charlotte man was arrested Wednesday after Venice police responded to a UPS store to investigate a suspicious device.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Venice police officers responded to the call at the store on E. Venice Avenue in the Venice Commons Plaza.

According to the Venice Police Department, officers determined the device wasn't a threat, and the scene was cleared at approximately 10:50 a.m.

Police arrested Andrew A. Bevan, 55, in connection with the investigation. Bevan is facing charges of planting or threatening to use a hoax bomb and false reporting of a bomb.

Bevan was taken to the Sarasota County Jail and is being held without bond.
