25 Fort Myers Beach homes to be elevated following release of FEMA funding

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. —

Twenty-five single-family homes on Fort Myers Beach will be elevated above base flood elevation standards following the release of Federal Emergency Management Agency funding.

According to the town of Fort Myers Beach, FEMA Hazard Mitigation funding was released to support the elevation of 25 homes located in flood-prone areas.

The homes will be lifted above the base standards, helping reduce the risk of future flooding, which will strengthen the long-term resilience of the community, the town said.

The town will assist applicants in receiving the funding and will work with the selected homeowners as the project continues.

"We are especially grateful to Senator Ashley Moody for working on behalf of Fort Myers Beach and helping move this funding forward for residents who have been waiting for this assistance," the town said in a Facebook post.
