Englewood man arrested in Charlotte County, accused of battery of a law enforcement officer

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. —

Deputies from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in Charlotte County. He is accused of battery of a law enforcement officer.

According to an arrest report, Sarasota deputies were dispatched about a possible reckless driver. A witness reportedly told them that Steven Robert Pillsbury, 57, was driving recklessly. They say that Pillsbury almost hit two pedestrians, ran over a curb and almost side-swiped another vehicle.

When Sarasota deputies were attempting to catch up to Pillsbury and the witness, who was following him, they crossed into Charlotte County.

During the traffic stop, deputies say that Pillsbury became aggressive, pushing one of them and ripping another's uniform. They add that he continued to struggle while being detained.

Sarasota deputies arrested Pillsbury and transported him to the Charlotte County Jail, where he was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.
