CHARLOTTE HARBOR, Fla.—Heavy rain in Charlotte Harbor quickly revealed infrastructure issues after nearly 4 inches fell on Thursday.
Clogged drains left much deeper water behind, causing problems for drivers.
In the floodwaters, a "No Parking on the Grass" sign became meaningless as dark waters created a moat around some buildings, even reflecting them.
Cars splashed water across the street as they rushed through, while others crept forward cautiously, testing the water's depth one tire at a time.
Crews arrived at the scene and quickly got to work, which was good news for residents like Olinsky, who was concerned about the risks of the floodwaters.
"You got trucks driving through here, but if you have a small car, you're definitely gonna flood out," said Olinsky. "I mean, you've got to get people to work back in here, so they need access to get in here. I mean, this is kind of crazy."
The quick response from crews aimed to alleviate the inconvenience and risks posed by the flooding, ensuring better access for drivers in the area.
