Man arrested after drugs found in stolen car in Cape Coral Walmart parking lot

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A man was arrested after drugs were found in a stolen car in the parking lot of a Cape Coral Walmart on Wednesday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies were notified of a large amount of suspected narcotics in a recovered stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart on Del Prado Boulevard South around 6:30 p.m.

Cape Coral police officers responded to the parking lot and located the vehicle. Officers located three people inside the Walmart who matched the description seen on surveillance video as the ones seen leaving the vehicle and detained them.

Deputies then searched the car and found a black bag under the driver's seat. Deputies searched the bag and found multiple narcotics, including:

• 416 grams of crystal meth
• 105.5 grams of fentanyl
• 6.8 grams of crack cocaine
• 3.1 grams of powdered cocaine
• 12.6 grams of MDMA

Deputies also located a pistol between the driver's seat and center console, the report said.

Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, according to the report, and identified the man who exited the driver's side of the car as Anton Hampton, 36.

The report stated that Hampton is a convicted felon in the state of Florida and had not had his right to possess a firearm restored.

Deputies continued their search of the vehicle and located eight pink pills, which tested positive for MDMA.

Hampton was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in phenethylamines and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
