Cole Moberg is back on the ice with the Florida Everblades as they aim for another playoff push. The defenseman, who was part of the Kelly Cup championship teams in 2023 and 2024, rejoined the team this week after experiencing his first season of international hockey.
Moberg recently played with HC Innsbruck in Austria, and he shared his thoughts on the transition.
"The speed and the size of the ice. Just getting used to, you got more room out there and so you can't just run around out there on the ice. One pass can beat you pretty easily," said Moberg.
Moberg expressed his happiness about returning to Southwest Florida.
"Everyone I've talked to they've said you seem happier down here. I'm like it's my home," said Moberg.
Head Coach Brad Ralph highlighted Moberg's contributions to the team, which is currently leading the Eastern Conference standings.
"He's intelligent number one. He's very vocal as well. So it really helps just sort things out on the ice when someone's really vocal like that. You know I've always felt loud teams were good teams and he brings that element," said Ralph.
Moberg is eager to contribute as the Everblades prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.
"They've done well through the first 55 plus games. So let's just keep it rolling and whenever they need my help, I'll be in there to help them out," said Moberg.
The Florida Everblades are set to host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Friday night and Saturday night at Hertz Arena.
