Former Lee Health employee sentenced to year in jail on charges of stealing medical equipment

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A former Lee Health employee was sentenced to jail time on Thursday after pleading no contest to charges relating to stealing medical equipment.

According to court records, Ricardo Rodrigues, 57, pled no contest on Feb. 19 to charges of second-degree grand theft. The charges stemmed from his arrest in February 2025 after he was accused of stealing at least 24 heart monitors, as well as a feeding tube pump and various medical supplies from the hospital where he worked.

Rodrigues was then accused of selling the medical equipment online on sites such as eBay.

On Thursday, Rodrigues was sentenced to one year in jail followed by 60 months of probation, according to court documents.
