COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.—The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left two people dead on Whistler’s Cove Circle.
Deputies responded to an initial injury report at around 9:44 p.m. Saturday; however, upon arrival, they found two men dead in a parking lot.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, one man was located inside a truck while the other was found on the ground nearby.
Neighbors in the area shared their experiences with WINK News.
"I heard like five gunshots," said Alan Olguin, a neighbor.
The incident report detailed that deputies found a white GMC Sierra parked in the lot.
Inside the truck, one man was slumped over in the driver's seat, with blood on his head and left armpit.
Nearby, a second man was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to the side of his head.
Deputies discovered two spent shell casings near the victim on the ground.
The sheriff's office identified the victims as 28-year-old Raul Rojas Catete of Naples and 25-year-old Juan Ruiz-Perez.
"It's not really uncommon, some of this stuff happens sometimes," Olguin said.
Investigators found a white powdery substance and a pipe on Ruiz-Perez, which tested positive for cocaine.
A source close to the victims, who spoke off-camera, mentioned that the two men were friends.
As of now, the sheriff's office has released no further details while the investigation continues.
