Man accused of fleeing troopers, driving over 100 mph down Alligator Alley

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

A man was arrested after Florida Highway Patrol troopers said he was seen driving 100-plus mph along Alligator Alley.

According to the FHP report, a trooper who was patrolling Interstate 75 south near mile marker 76 at approximately 10:58 a.m. Tuesday clocked a silver Chevrolet Camaro travelling at 102 mph in the 70-mph zone.

As the trooper tried to get the driver to stop, they realized the same vehicle was involved in a previous "Be On The Lookout" (BOLO) notice from the Miccossukee Police Department.

The driver, later identified as Joshua Gosa, 27, was reportedly spotted driving at 110 mph before fleeing officers at mile marker 49.

The trooper said Gosa was driving recklessly, increasing speed, following closely behind other vehicles and making improper lane changes.

According to the report, the trooper deactivated their lights and called for a BOLO for the vehicle due to the amount of traffic and a construction zone with a left lane closure ahead of them.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies were able to locate the vehicle on Immokalee Road and Logan Boulevard. Gosa and a passenger were detained by deputies.

FHP said the passenger was released on the scene, and Gosa was arrested. He faces charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and dangerous and excessive speeding.

Gosa's vehicle was towed, and he was taken to the Immokalee Jail Center, according to FHP.
