FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of providing his child with acid.
On Wednesday, at around 4:45 a.m., deputies responded to a Fort Myers grocery store parking lot after receiving reports of a disoriented child lying in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, they found the disoriented child and transported them to a local hospital for treatment. Later Wednesday, deputies learned from the child that their father had provided them with acid.
According to the sheriff’s office, during the investigation, other children told deputies their father would pressure them into using narcotics and would provide them with drugs.
Their investigation led law enforcement to a La Quinta Inn on Marketplace Road, where they found the child’s father, Jeffery Rivenburg. Deputies reported finding fentanyl, LSD, cocaine, and marijuana inside the hotel room.
Rivernburg was then arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect without causing great bodily harm, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking LSD, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
The sheriff’s office reports that Rivenburg has been previously arrested, having been booked more than 30 times for various charges, including multiple drug offenses, battery, theft, and burglary.
He remains in Lee County Jail.
