Clewiston Sugar Festival returns with two days of events

CLEWISTON, Fla. —

The Clewiston Sugar Festival begins Friday, continuing a community tradition that dates back to the 1930s.

The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday along Royal Palm Avenue and will feature a kids' carnival, live music and a fireworks show to close out the night.

The event continues Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. with a full day of activities, including a half-marathon, 5K and 10K races, a car show, wildlife and alligator demonstrations, and family-friendly entertainment.

Live country music performances are scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening, along with community stage performances, a kids' play area and antique tractor displays.

The two-day festival celebrates the region's agricultural heritage and is expected to draw families from across South Florida.
