A Collier County man is wanted for failing to appear in court on possession of child pornography charges.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Juan Carlos Betancourt, 62, failed to appear for his trial stemming from an arrest on 24 counts of possession of child pornography.
Detectives received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about downloads of sex acts among underage girls, between the ages of 5 and 16, which linked back to Betancourt's phone, Crime Stoppers said.
According to Crime Stoppers, Betancourt spent four months in prison before posting bond, using money he had scammed from a Punta Gorda family.
Betancourt is 5'5", 175 pounds and was last known to be living in the Golden Gate Estates area.
If you have information in this case, you are asked to contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477), on the P3 app, or on its website. You can remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
