Lehigh Acres couple's water restored after internet installation mishap

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK)— A Lehigh Acres couple has running water again after going 12 days without it. Anthony and Ana Harsh live in a more rural part of Lehigh Acres.

The tell WINK News reporter Bella Line that after getting internet installed in their yard, a worker hit a pipe, and just hours later, they lost running water. "We had about six gallons a day," Ana Harsh said.

WINK News reached out to Comcast to get answers, and on Thursday, their water came back on.

"It took a long time, but within a couple of hours, it was done last night," Ana Harsh said.

The couple says it impacted their day to day life.

"Going to the bathrooms. I mean, I'm just, I'm too old, I don't want to mess around with that stuff," Anthony Harsh said.

Comcast says it was a contractor who did the original installation and they've come back out to fix it. Comcast also says the Harshes won't have to foot the bill, which could have cost them thousands of dollars. However, Anthony Harsh says they've still spent hundreds of dollars on water bottles and a new pump to try and get by.

"I was quite upset and not only that, buying the pump, buying 100 gallons of water in one gallon thing, buying 10 of those Walmart water, the 16-ounce water bottles," Anthony Harsh said.

Comcast tells WINK News it's looking into reimbursing them.

"We take matters like this seriously. Once we were made aware of the issue, our team moved quickly to review the situation and is working to resolve it to the customer's satisfaction," a Comcast spokesperson said.
