Summer travelers face rising ticket prices as a result of Iran War

Summer travelers are facing higher ticket prices due to the Iran War, with many scrambling to finalize their plans before costs increase further.

Sandy Davies, a Naples resident, said, "I have a trip planned for Boston, and I booked it for this morning, and my fare was reasonable. I was thinking, I need to do it sooner rather than later."

Greg Schaffer, a college student, shared his travel plans, saying, "I'm going to Denmark to see my sister. She's studying abroad. Then I'll be in Poland for two weeks with my family."

Brian Cronin, another college student, expressed his concerns, saying, "First thing that comes to mind is like 'oh crap,' you know? I like spending money on a lot of things, tickets isn't one of them."

Many travelers fear they won't be able to afford a summer trip this year, with flights potentially doubling in price. Aseth Grassel, visiting from Boston, said, "It does make me second-guess whether I'll be booking something."

Jase Ramsey, a professor of management at Florida Gulf Coast University, warned that overseas flights are already seeing fuel surcharges as fuel prices spike. "Those European flights are going to go up significantly," he said.

Ramsey offered advice for those who may not get to take their dream vacation this year. "Instead of flying across to Europe, consider flying south. We're already halfway to the Caribbean and Latin America, those prices have not gone up substantially yet," he said.

Many airlines are expected to increase rates this weekend, limiting travel for younger fliers. Logan Lawrence, a traveler at RSW International, said, "I think younger people are already struggling. Everything is getting expensive."

If you're booking a $500 summer flight today and two weeks from now those prices go down, you can always contact your airline for a credit.
