Man accused of bailing on court after arrest for drug possession in Lee County

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A man is wanted by Lee County deputies after failing to show up for his court date following an arrest for drug possession.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department saw Michael Kelley, 50, sitting under a tree near a bank when they noticed a glass pipe sticking out of his backpack.

Officers then searched Kelley's backpack and found pre-packed bags of meth. When questioned, Kelley said he had found a purse with drugs in it the previous night and was just holding onto them until he could decide what to do, Crime Stoppers said.

Kelley was arrested but released under the condition of returning for his court date, which Crime Stoppers said he has not.

Kelley is 6'0", 180 pounds and has three previous bookings for drugs and trespassing.
