Collier gas prices ascend above state, national average as Middle East conflict continues

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)—Gas prices in Collier County have climbed to $3.79 per gallon, surpassing both state and national averages.

The county average sits above Florida's statewide rate as conflict continues in the Middle East. A week ago, gas was around $3.50 per gallon in Collier County. A month before that, it was under $3 per gallon.

Diesel prices have surged even more dramatically, now exceeding $5 per gallon compared to about $3.50 a month ago.

WINK News reporter Eric Lovelace visited multiple gas stations across Collier County to track the rising costs. At a 7-Eleven on U.S. 41, gas was marked at $3.77 per gallon, cheaper than other nearby stations.

Regan Lolly, a neighbor who uses diesel for both his car and business, said the price increase has affected him personally and professionally.

"Yeah, I mean it stings a little bit, definitely, it's not fun going to your wallet and seeing $150 bucks every time you fill up, plus the monthly bill for the business, you definitely notice it," Lolly said.

Lovelace spoke with neighbors throughout the morning, and nearly all said they've noticed a difference at the pump. WINK News will continue monitoring gas prices across Collier County as the situation develops.
