A woman was arrested after police said she was hiding in bushes after attempting to break into a Naples home.
A caller contacted Naples police on Saturday night after seeing a woman on surveillance video wearing a towel entering the back of a residence located along 14th Avenue South. According to the Naples Police Department, the caller stated that the woman walked onto the driveway before the surveillance camera lost sight of her.
Officers canvassed the outside of the residence at approximately 10:58 p.m., but didn't find any signs of forced entry or property damage. The officers then cleared the scene at approximately 11:36 p.m.
Police received another call from the original caller approximately 10 minutes later, who stated the woman returned and was at the front door trying to enter a passcode into the front door lock.
The caller also shared a video with the police showing that the woman, later identified as Renee Keene, 63, then tried to enter the home through the garage doors.
According to the NPD report, Keene was seen again on surveillance footage at approximately 11:53 p.m., emerging from the right side of the residence and entering the pool area. Police said she was then seen on video trying to gain entry through the bedroom windows.
Officers returned to the home and canvassed the property, but initially didn't find Keene. Shortly after, officers said Keene came up out of some bushes at a neighboring home.
According to the police report, Keene told officers that she was homeless and that she was trying to enter the residence.
Keene was arrested for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and was taken to the Naples Jail Center.
