Arcadia felon sentenced to prison after troopers find him illegally possessing a firearm

ARCADIA, Fla. —

An Arcadia man received his sentence after Florida Highway Patrol troopers found him illegally possessing a firearm during a 2025 traffic stop.

In April, an FHP trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Esteban Garcia-Gutierrez, 31. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, Garcia-Gutierrez is a felon with prior convictions and state prison sentences for aggravated battery and felony battery.

During the traffic stop, a loaded .45-caliber pistol was seized. Garcia-Gutierrez was sentenced to six years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon.
