A Fort Myers man was arrested on Saturday after being accused of pulling a fire alarm when there was no fire.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department arrest report, officers responded to the Triton Cay apartment complex on West First Street at around 5:45 a.m. in response to a man claiming to have pulled the fire alarm.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw multiple people standing outside the apartment building. Multiple witnesses pointed to a man sitting on a chair at the main entrance of the building, and told officers he had pulled the fire alarm.
Officers questioned the man, identified as Thomas Miller, 59, who told them he pulled the fire alarm because he had no phone or keys, and wanted to be let in.
Multiple witnesses told officers the fire alarm had woken them up, but when they went downstairs and evacuated the building, Miller was sitting outside the entrance and told them there was no emergency and that he had pulled the fire alarm, the report said.
Officers viewed surveillance footage, which showed Miller pulling the fire alarm.
Miller was arrested and faces a charge of false fire alarm.
