Teen sentenced to 20 years in prison for 2024 armed robbery, shooting

ARCADIA, Fla. —

A teen convicted of robbery with a weapon and attempted murder in relation to a 2024 shooting was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, in 2024, officers responded to the Oak Trail Apartments in reference to a robbery and shooting.

After investigating, officers arrested Javyion Saunders, who was then charged with robbery with a weapon and attempted murder.

Saunders pled guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

"We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all APD personnel who worked diligently on this investigation, as well as the State Attorney’s Office for their commitment to seeing this case through," the APD said. "Violence has no place in our community, and this sentence serves as a reminder that those who commit these acts will be held accountable."
