Bermont Road reopens following multi-hour closure due to 3-vehicle crash

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three-vehicle crash that closed Bermont Road for several hours.

Bermont Road (Country Road 74) was closed between State Road 31 and Acorn Ranch Road after a crash involving three vehicles, two of which were trailers, occurred at around 9 a.m. on Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, three people were injured from the crash, one of which was deemed a serious injury.  

Troopers say that two semitrucks trailers and a dump truck failed to slow down, causing a rear-end collision.

Law enforcement on scene diverted traffic towards State Road 17, through SR-31, and back to SR-74, while clearing debris, fluids, and the damaged vehicles.

At 1:35 p.m., the roadway was clear, and regular traffic resumed. 

This crash remains under investigation.
