Police call for community assistance in Julia Curvo homicide investigation

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — The Fort Myers Police Department is seeking tips to aid in their homicide investigation of Julia Curvo, a 28-year-old woman who was found dead near downtown Fort Myers in January.

During a news conference held on Thursday, Police Chief Jason Fields called for the community to continue submitting tips regarding Curvo’s death.

She was reported missing for about a week after being last seen on January 21 on Fowler Street. 

Her body was discovered on Hough Street, just blocks away.

Investigators then declared the disappearance and death of Curvo a homicide investigation in late February; however, police had not provided further details on how that decision was made.

Investigators with the Fort Myers Police Department alluded to a tip submitted to the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers on February 27, with the possible location of physical evidence of Curvos and details about the murder.

The tipster told law enforcement that they were open to helping investigators with the case; however, the tipster has not continued communication with the police department.

Police encouraged the tipster and anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact either Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers or the Fort Myers Police Department.

A $9,500 reward has been issued for information that may lead to an arrest in the homicide case.
