Woman charged with DUI manslaughter, allegedly causing fatal wrong-way crash pulled over same night of collision

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A 24-year-old woman accused of DUI manslaughter, leaving a 96-year-old Naples man dead, was pulled over earlier that night, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said.

CCSO told WINK News there is an active internal investigation and that no further information is available at this time.

WINK News reporter Maddie Herron asked CCSO:

• Was Ms. Taylor cited for speeding at the time of the traffic stop? What was the outcome of that traffic stop?
• Where and what time was she pulled over?
• What speed was she going and what was the posted speed limit where she was driving?
• Did the CCSO deputy involved observe the smell of alcohol at the time of the stop or conduct field sobriety tests at that time? Was any impairment of Ms. Taylor suspected?

CCSO responded saying, "Maddie, We are unable to release any details about the traffic stop at this time due to the active internal investigation. As soon as that information is releasable, we will forward it to you."

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Genise Taylor was driving northbound on the southbound lanes of I-75 on Immokalee Road early Wednesday morning.

Authorities said Taylor then collided with two vehicles, critically injuring a 96-year-old Naples man and causing non-incapacitating injuries to a 57-year-old man from New Hampshire.

Taylor remains in Collier County Jail.
