Arcadia school lockdown lifted after safety concern resolved

ARCADIA, Fla. (WINK) — West Elementary School was placed on lockdown Monday morning after the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office and Arcadia Police Department responded to a reported safety concern.

Deputies conducted a systematic sweep of the campus, including all classrooms and facilities. The response followed standard law enforcement procedures in accordance with agency policy.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies confirmed there was no active threat to the campus. The DeSoto County School District issued an "All Clear" and the lockdown was lifted.

Normal school operations resumed. The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office thanked school administrators, staff, students and responding personnel for their cooperation throughout the incident.
